Sony Shutting Down Demon’s Souls Online Services in 2018
It has been announced that Sony is shutting down Demon’s Souls online services in 2018.
The announcement was made through the Dark Souls team twitter account and fans were given an exact date for termination of February 28, 2018. Alongside news of the termination came a call for players to jump on one last time before servers go offline.
Team Dark Souls Tweet
After 9 years of reoccurring deaths and frustrations, but just as many triumphs of dedication, Demon’s Souls online servers will terminate on February 28, 2018. Play online one last time, and share with us your best Demon’s Souls moment! pic.twitter.com/knIgmXLqFW

Atlus USA (the game’s publisher), also took to their blog to announce the server termination. In the post, staff at Atlus USA shared some of their fondest memories of playing Demon’s Souls over the past 9 years.
Demon’s Souls features a number of online features which will no longer be available come February 28, 2018. From simple online cooperation and invasions to messages and bloodstains, all of these online features will no longer work for players revisiting the start of the wildly successful Souls series.
If Demon’s Souls is in your backlog of games to play through, I highly recommend moving it to the top of the pile. Maybe playthrough Demon’s Souls over the coming holidays and get the full online experience before the new year.
I bet you are pretty cheesed about this news.
It makes me sad
