Pokemon GO: Pikachu as Starter

Pokemon GO has taken the internet by storm and people are starting to discover hidden mechanics within the game. One secret going around is the ability to catch Pikachu as a starter instead of the big 3 (Bulbasaur, Charmander or Squirtle). The process is rather simple:

1.Walk Away From Starters 4 Times:

When the game starts, Professor Willow tells you to select a Pokemon from the big 3  (Bulbasaur, Charmander or Squirtle). If you don’t click on any, and instead walk away (who said gaming couldn’t be healthy?) 4 times, the trio disappears and returns with Pikachu in tow.

2. Click on Pikachu to Catch

If you haven’t had a chance to try the catch system in Pokemon Go, it is fairly straight-forward. When a Pokemon appears on the map, you simply tap the creature to bring up the catch interface. Here the game involves using AR to fling pokeballs while timing them with a green circle. Once successful, you will be the proud owner of a Pikachu!

* Important note: The servers of Pokemon Go are rather overloaded, so the process may take a while. Also depending on your location, Pikachu may be common so doing this might not be worth it.
