How to Evolve Yamask in Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield

Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield contain a Pokedex of 400 Pokemon for players to find and catch. Some of these Pokemon are simple to get while others are more complicated. One of the more complicated Pokemon to get is Runerigus, the evolved form of Yamask. To help you get this Pokemon here’s how to evolve Yamask in Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield.

Catch a Yamask

To start you want to catch yourself a Yamask (if you have one already ignore this section). Yamask can be found along Route 6 between Hammerlock and Stow-on-Side. Yamask is rather common along this route so catching one shouldn’t be an issue. The thing to keep in mind here is you want to catch a Yamask with Max Health above 50 (this comes into play later). Once you’ve met the required criteria continue to the next step.

Have Yamask Take 49+ Health Damage

Now that you have a Yamask, equip it and fight other Pokemon. The goal here is to have Yamask take at least 49 health damage from an enemy Pokemon. To do this I recommend fighting Pokemon at or below its level. Keep in mind you do not want Yamask to faint. You just need it to lose 49 health. Once this happens it’s onto the next step.

Walk with Yamask Under Arch in Dusty Bowl

With your hurt Yamask in hand take Yamask to the Duty Bowl in the Wild Area. This named location can be found to the south of the Hammerlocke entrance. Once you are at the location marked on the map above you need to walk/bike under the arch way.

Which Archway to Walk Under to Evolve Yamask?

With Yamask in first slot, walk or bike under the long rock archway pictured above. As you go under the archway you will be stopped. Yamask will evolve into Runerigus.

That’s all you need to know about how to evolve Yamask in Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield. This evolution process is pretty wild. With that said Runerigus is a fairly solid Pokemon that is worth the effort. Let me know what you think in the comments below.
