How to Change Pet Breed in Stardew Valley
The 1.4 update for Stardew Valley brought with it a number of changes to the game. These changes range from new buildings and items to new species of Cats and Dogs. Note: When you start a new game you can select your pet breed on the character creation screen. The guide below shows you how to change you pet breed in already started games.
Reach 4 Hearts with the Wizard
Before you are able to change your pet breed, you first need to befriend the Wizard. The reason being is you need to gain access to the Wizard’s basement so you can use The Shrine of Illusions. To increase your relationship with the Wizard quickly use give him the following items:
- Purple Mushroom.
- Solar Essence.
- Super Cucumber.
- Void Essence.
Once you’ve reached 4 Hearts with the Wizard his basement becomes accessible to you. Go down into it to reach The Shrine of Illusions.
Use Shrine of Illusions to Change Pet Breed
In the basement of the Wizard’s tower interact with The Shrine of Illusions to be prompted to spend 500. Spend the 500 to access the character creation screen. At the bottom of this screen you will find your pet. Use the arrows to change the pet’s breed. Keep in mind you can’t change from Dog to Cat. You are simply changing the look of your pet.
