Most Important January 2020 Game Release Dates – PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC

December 2019 marked the end of the busy season for games and the end of the decade. January 2020 brings with it a nice reprieve from the constant onslaught of game releases we’ve been experiencing lately. With that said there are a few titles you may wish to pick up this months. Below I’ve highlighted the most important January 2020 game release dates for you. If I missed anything of importance let me know in the comments below.

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne for PC on January 9

The first major title we are getting this month is actually an expansion. That’s right, the Monster Hunter World: Iceborne expansion is finally coming to PC players on January 9th. Like previous Monster Hunter expansion you get a new region to explore, new monster and returning monsters to fight, and new weapons and armor to craft in Iceborne. Players that pick up this expansion on PC will also benefit from higher resolution texture pack support, 4K, and keyboard and mouse controls.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot (PS4, Xbox One, PC) on January 17

On January 17th the newest Dragon Ball Z title, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is slated to release on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. This title is an action-RPG out of Bandai Namco that is a retelling of the entire Dragon Ball Z series. In the game players will take contorl of Goku as well as Gohan, Vegeta, future Trunks, and Vegito throughout the main storyline. Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot also introduces a brand new character called Bonyu who was designed by series creator Akira Toriyama.

Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore (Switch) on January 17

On January 17th the Nintendo Switch is getting a port of the 2015 Wii U RPG Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE, called Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore. This title is a crossover between Fire Emblem and the Shin Megami Tensei series. With that in mind the story follows a group of teenagers that command Mirages (Fire Emblem heroes with a twist) to battle otherworldly enemies that are draining creative energy from Tokyo. Inside the Nintendo Switch enhanced port of the game players get the base game and all DLC content as well as new characters, story elements, and songs.

Temtem (PC: Early Access) on January 21

January marks an exciting time for those of you who have been following the development of the Pokemon inspired PC title called Temtem. On January 21 Temtem will officially enter Early Access on Steam and Humble Bundle. Temtem takes heavy inspiration from Pokemon which means you will travel around catching different Temtem which you can use to battle other Temtem trainers. What makes this title particulary interesting is the fact the game is an MMO, so that means players can play with friends and strangers as they explore six different islands of the Airborne Archipelago.

Warcraft III: Reforged (PC) on January 28

Rounding out January 2020 is the release of the fully remastered Warcraft III: Reforged title for PC. This remaster of Warcraft III includes the base game and the Frozen Throne expansion. As a remastered titles players will notice a visual overhaul as well as improved online systems like Matchmaking. There are two editions of this title for purchase: standard ($30) and Spoils of War ($40). The standard edition gets you the Reforged while Spoils of War gets you in-game bonuses for Reforged and other Blizzard titles.
