Chestnut Valley Guide

After you land in Chestnut Valley repair the Not-Bottomless Holes 1-3 you will see on the screen. Walk to the right and hit the ? Block to get 100 coins. From the block walk to the foreground to reach a ledge you can drop onto to get a bag of confetti. Head to the left on this ledge to reach a treasure chest with the Collectible Treasure No.34: Sturdy Crates inside it. Head back to the area above and go to the left.

Go up the slope here to learn there is something being rolled down the slope. These spiked chestnuts roll down the slope rather frequently and must be avoided to reach the top. On the first slope there are two tracks the chestnuts will roll in. Stay in one track to avoid a chestnut rolling in the other. If there are two chestnuts rolling in tandem hide in the wall alcove. At the top of this first slope you will see a spot where the chestnuts hit the wall. Stand at this spot and jump to reveal a hidden ? Block with a shiny mushroom inside.

Where to Find Bob-omb

Once you reach the second slope it will only be one chestnut in one track. To get up to the top you need to use the first wall alcove to avoid getting hit. When the coast is clear head up and you will see a crack in the wall. Hit it to reveal a second alcove you can hide in. Reach the top of the slope and hit the tree there to reveal a trio of Toads (1). Fill in the Not-Bottomless Holes 4-6 on the wall behind you then head to the right along the ledge (watch for falling spike chestnuts). Drop down onto the ledge Bob-omb is on then interact with the treasure chest to get Collectible Treasure No.35: Sign.

Drop down then go back up to the ledge you dropped off and cross it to the right to reach a Save Block. Use it then repair the Not-Bottomless Hole 7 on the wall behind it. Walk from this spot to the foreground to trigger a cutscene with a Goomba and a tree. Hit the tree and win the battle to rescue a Toad (2) trio. Continue moving to the foreground to reach a treasure chest containing Collectible Treasure No.36: Spinning Shells.

Head back to the save block and head down the slope. When you get about a third of the way down spiked chestnuts will roll after you run down the slope and prepare to battle as Bob-omb gets taken out by a chestnut. After the fight fill in Not-Bottomless Hole 8 along the wall then enter the area with a number of spiked chestnuts.

Where to find Bob-omb again

Go through this maze area so you reach the bottom right of it. Drop onto the ledge to hit a ? Block that contains Fire Flower. Jump back to the maze and walk to along the right side. Hit the hole here to get a number of coins. When you go here the Goomba will move the spiked chestnut to block your path. Head to the far left path to get around it. Hit the enemy if you wish to fight for a Mushroom (item).

At the base of the cliff-side here you will find a hole you can hammer. Hammer it once to have a rolled up Toad appear. Pull Toad 3 out to rescue it. Go to the left and head up the ledges. Repair Not-Bottomless Hole 9-10 here and head up the slope. Go up the slope about halfway and hammer the crack in the wall to create an alcove you can wait in. When the coast is clear continue up and repair Not-Bottomless Hole 11-12. Drop off the foreground below the holes to reach a ledge with a pipe. Go through the pipe to reach the ledge with Bob-omb on it. Hit the ? Block then hit the Goomba, then finally hit the tree to free Bob-omb who will go rolling down the slope.

Where to find Bob-omb again… again

To find Bob-omb again drop down to the slope and head up it to the right. You will see a sleeping Bob-omb on a stump surrounded by some Galoombas. Defeat the Galoombas then wake Bob-omb. Before you leave this area look for a red and white butterfly near the flowers. Hit it to rescue Toad 4.

If you’ve followed the guide up to this point you will have 100% this area. To head back to Autumn Mountain simply take the path from the stump up. This will take you right to it.
