Animal Crossing New Horizons: Everything You Need to Know About Turnips

There are a ton of different ways to make money (Bells) in Animal Crossing New Horizons. These money making ventures typically involve some form of foraging then selling the spoils to Timmy and Tommy. One way of making money that upends this mechanic is Turnips. Turnips are a form of in-game stock. The aim here is to buy Turnips on Sunday and hold them until you can sell them for a price you like before the next Sunday. If you want to learn more about Turnips you’ve come to the right place. Check out everything you need to know about Turnips in Animal Crossing New Horizons below.

Where to Buy Turnips?

To buy Turnips you need to wait for a specific merchant on Sundays called Daisy Mae. Daisy Mae appears around the island and only sells Turnips on this one day. When you speak with Daisy Mae she will tell you all about the Turnip market. The gist of it is this:

  • You can only buy Turnips on Sundays.
  • The price of Turnips changes daily. THE LOWER THE SUNDAY PRICE THE BETTER FOR YOU.
  • You can buy Turnips in lots of 10, with there being no maximum purchase amount.
  • Turnips spoil if they are not sold before the next Sunday. If you are holding Turnips into the next Sunday they will go bad (losing all Bells spent to purchase).

When you have the opportunity buy some Turnips to test out the system. Once you have some Turnips in your inventory it is on to the sell part of the equation.

Where to Sell Turnips?

There is only one major merchant on the island and that’s the Nooks. The main shop on the island is Nook’s Cranny. This shop is the central hub for Turnip selling. When you enter the shop you can speak to Timmy and Tommy to ask them about the day’s Turnip price. Note there are some concessions to selling Turnips here:

  • Tommy and Timmy provide daily Turnip prices. Use this resource.
  • You cannot sell Turnips on Sundays.
  • Turnips must be sold to Timmy or Tommy.

Your main goal with selling the Turnips is to make a profit. This can be done pretty regularly if you buy Turnips for a low price.
