Animal Crossing New Horizons: How to Complete Project K
Once you’ve finished the bulk of the projects for Tom Nook you will trigger a new project to get the famous musician K.K to come perform at your island. This project, dubbed Project K, consists of three parts: add a campsite to the island, make the island more inviting, and get someone to move in. To help you complete this quest-line use our how to complete Project K guide below.
How to Build a Campsite
The first step of Project K is to make a campsite on the island. To do this Tom Nook will give you a Campsite Construction Kit. This kit can be made at any DIY Workbench. To build the Campsite Construction Kit you will need to have the following materials:
- 15x Wood.
- 15x Softwood.
- 15x Hardwood.
- 15x Iron Nugget.
Once you have the material listed above head to the nearest workbench to craft this kit. Once you’ve crafted this kit you can place it anywhere on your island. It takes 1 IRL day to complete the build.
How to Make Your Island More Appealing and Get Someone to Move in
The second step in Project K is to make your island more appealing. To do this you will need to do things to help the look and feel of your island. According to Tom Nook this means doing the following:
- Weeding.
- Planting Flowers.
- Crafting and placing outdoor decorations.
To complete this portion of the project you will want to spend your time focusing on planting flowers and placing outdoor decorations (seems to have the highest effect).
After you’ve spent time improving your island wait a day for someone to camp on your island. Head inside the tent that is now pitched at the campsite and speak to the NPC there. Continue talking with them until you can ask them to move in. Return to Tom Nook and speak with him about this NPC moving to the island.
How Build New House(s)
When you return to Tom Nook to tell him the good news he will mention needing to build a house for the new resident. To do this take the Housing Kit Tom gives you and head out onto your island to pick a spot for the house. Once the house is placed return to Tom Nook and speak with him again. Advance 1 IRL day to have the house built.
On the start of the next IRL day you will welcome the NPC to your island. After this welcome head to Tom Nook again and speak to him. Once the cutscene is over ask Tom Nook “What Should I do?” to advance to the next portion of the project which is to improve the image of the island. Note you will now unlock the ability to put aside land to sell through Nook’s Infrastructure menu (costs 10K Bells). You will need to use this to get more people to move to the island.
How to Improve the Island’s Image
To improve the Island’s image you will want to speak with Isabelle. Isabelle now has an Island Evaluation option. This option allows you to see the current star rating of your island. Chances are high you will be at 1 star. To complete this section you will need to raise your star rating to 3 Stars. To raise the star rating continue to do the following:
- Build Plots of Land to have NPCs move in.
- Pull Weeds.
- Plant Flowers.
- Build and place outdoor decorations.
- Build Infrastructure like bridges and inclines.
To easily improve your island rating you want to spend the 40K Bells on the four house plots you can get from Tom Nook. Once these plots are placed you will have NPCs move in. While NPCs are moving in you should be planting flowers, building things, and weeding.
How to Watch the K.K. Slider Concert
Once you’ve reached 3 Stars you will trigger a cutscene between Isabelle, Tom Nook, and yourself. During this cutscene Isablelle reads a letter from K.S. K.S. is actually K.K. Slider, the musician we are wanting to have put a concert on. Tom will call K.K. Slider and a concert will be planned for the next IRL day. To view the concert all you need to do is login the next day and a cutscene will play.
That’s all you need to do to complete the Project K build in Animal Crossing New Horizons. This project is part of advancing the main storyline. While much of the steps are easy to complete they can be a bit time consuming. The concert triggers the end credits for the game.
