Black Panther Teaser or: You’re a False Coogler…

So, here it is, Ryan Coogler’s follow up to his power house studio film debut Creed. Am I a bit disappointed, well, actually I would say that I am a lot disappointed. At only 31, Coogler is without a doubt one of the most talented young directors working at the moment, and Creed is such a phenomenal film, that to see him doing a Marvel film seems like such a waste of his talent. Of course, this is only a teaser, so the movie could be absolute dynamite, but what the teaser is showing me, is that this is just another one of Marvel’s post Guardians of the Galaxy films, where the mandate is make everything weird looking and colourful. I certainly prefer the direction that GOTG has lead Marvel movies, but there is nothing in this teaser that suggests Coogler is doing anything other than just simply taking the new Marvel mandate, and adding the Black Panther character. I will say that at least the cast is on another level here, as scanning IMDB had me like…
