Borderlands 3: Broken Hearts Day Seasonal Event Guide
It’s that time of year again. A time to get together with your special someone to celebrate your undying love for each other. If you don’t have a special someone, fear not as many games are holding Valentine’s Day themed special events to make your time alone a little less lonely. One game getting in the fun is Borderlands 3. Borderlands 3 is currently running the Broken Hearts Day seasonal event. Learn more about this event in our guide below.
Note: The Broken Hearts Day event runs from February 13 – 20.
How to Earn Broken Hearts in Borderlands 3?
As the name of this seasonal event suggests, the main goal of this event is to break hearts. Like the halloween event these hearts (like the skulls) appear over enemies and must be shot to break. If you kill the enemy before breaking the heart, the heart will disappear. Once a heart is broken you will trigger a buff that can take a number of forms including the following:
- Sizzling Lover: Explodes dealing corrosive damage.
- Burning Desire: Explodes dealing fire damage.
- Bro Love: Temporarily convert enemies into allies.
- WrongEventError0285743: Releases ghosts when destroyed.
- The Big Muscle: Temporary health buff.
- Looty Boi: Explodes into a pile of loot.
Each heart you break is added to your running total. Once you’ve reached certain required amounts you will receive seasonal items from Maurice.
What Rewards are Available During the Broken Hearts Day Event?
Like any good seasonal event, the Borderlands 3 Broken Hearts Day features a total of five theme specific items to unlock. These items can be unlocked from Maurice on the Events page. The seasonal items were shown off by Gearbox in the art page shown above. The items for unlock are as follows:
- “ECHOcardiogram” ECHO Skin – 10.
- “Cosmic Romance” Weapon Trinket – 25.
- “Terminal Polyaimorous” Legendary Maliwan SMG – 50.
- “Heartbreaker” Vault Hunter Skin – 75.
- “Wedding Invitation” Legendary Jakobs Sniper Rifle – 100.
In total you need to break 100 hearts to unlock all the items in this seasonal event. This shouldn’t take very long if you focus on fighting human enemies like bandits. Acquiring all five items took me about 1.5 hours.
What Legendary Weapons are in the Broken Heart Seasonal Event?
The Terminal Polyyaimourous is the first Legendary you will unlock from this seasonal event. This weapon is a Legendary Maliwan SMG with the flavor text Spread the Love. This SMG can switch between Incendiary and Shock element on the fly.
The second Legendary you can unlock during this seasonal event is the Wedding Invitation. This weapon is a Legendary Jakobs Sniper with the flavor text “Will you be the rest of my life?” This Sniper triggers better Weapon Accuracy and Handling on Action Skill End.
