Cloudstrike – Destiny 2 Beyond Light
In the Beyond Light expansion for Destiny 2 there are a number of new exotics for players to unlock. One exotic is a sniper rifle players can get by completing a specific activity. Unlock Elected Difficulty Hunts
I have both good and bad news for you. The good news is that it is fairly easy to get the Cloudstrike exotic sniper rifle… if you are lucky. The bad news is that getting the weapon is largely up to chance. To get this exotic you need to run the Empire Hunt: The Dark Priestess campaign mission on Europa. This mission is unlocked by completing specific Sabotage missions for Variks:
- European Explorer I.
- European Explorer II.
You will also need to have completed the Exo Stranger mission called A Hard Rain Falls. Once these requirements are met you will have the Empire Hunt: The Dark Priestess mission appear on your map. This mission allows you to set the difficulty of the hunt from Adept to Master.
How to Get the Cloudstrike
Once you’ve unlocked the Empire Hunt: The Dark Priestess the next step is to farm this mission. If you select a difficulty you will see the potential drops from completing this hunt mission. One of the drops that is possible across all difficulties is the Cloudstrike sniper rifle which has a rare chance. This rare chance means you need to complete this activity until lady luck smiles upon you and the sniper drops. If you wish to do this fast a good method is to farm on Adept which makes it possible to run past almost all the enemies to reach the boss.
You need to wait until the end of the mission before you will know whether or not the gun has dropped for you. When I received my Cloudstrike there was only about 6 seconds left before I got sent back to the Director. This means you should hang around a little bit after completing the mission to see if you got lucky.
Cloudstrike Perks and Traits
The Cloudstrike is an exotic sniper rifle you receive by sheer luck from completing Empire Hunt: The Dark Priestess mission on Europa. This sniper rifle has a shiny metallic finish and a large scope on it. Like other exotics in the game this sniper rifle has unique perks and traits. Check out what the Cloudstrike perks and traits are below:
- Fluted Barrel (Barrel): Ultra-light barrel.
- Greatly increases handling speed.
- Slightly increases stability.
- Alloy Magazine (Magazine): Faster reloads when magazine is empty.
- Stormbringer (Trait): Rapid precision hits create a lightning storm at the point of impact.
- Hand-Laid Stock (Stock): This weapon is optimized for recoil control.
- Increases stability.
- Mortal Polarity (Intrinsic Trait): Precision final blows generate a lightning bolt at the target’s location.
This concludes our look at the Cloudstrike exotic sniper rifle. Overall getting this sniper is fairly simple, but has a heavy RNG mechanic attached to it. Your best bet is to run this hunt until it drops for you. If needed maybe hold a lucky rabbits foot or other IRL luck boosting item. Eventually you should get it.
