Dinosaur Bones Locations Guide: Where to find All 30 Dinosaur Bones in Red Dead Redemption 2
There are a number of collectible items for you to find in Red Dead Redemption 2. One of these sets of collectibles is the Dinosaur Bones. There are a total of 30 you need to collect to complete this side mission. Below you will find our Dinosaur Bones locations guide. In it you will learn where to find all 30 Dinosaur Bones in Red Dead Redemption 2.
Notes:
- You must inspect each bone to collect it.
- Dinosaur bones can be highlighted using Eagle Eye (L3 + R3).
- 8 Bones are located in the New Austin area (so can only b grabbed in End Game).
- Worth 2% total game completion.
A Test of Faith Starting Location
To start the Stranger Mission “A Test of Faith”, make your way to the location above which is just east of Flatneck Station in The Heartlands. At this spot you will meet a character named Deborah MacGuiness. MacGuiness wants you to collect the locations of 30 Dinosaur Bones located throughout the world. For collecting all the bones, MacGuiness promises you will be rewarded for your efforts.
All Dinosaur Bones Locations
Dinosaur Bone Location 1: In Forest Northwest of Van Horn Trading Post
In the forest to the northwest you will find the first Dinosaur Bone. It is located amongst a number of trees. It is a single bone sticking out of the ground.
Dinosaur Bone Location 2: On Cliff East of Roanoke Valley
The next bone can be found to the East of Roanoke Valley. Go to the location marked on the map above, and you will find the Dinosaur Bone on the top of a cliff.
Dinosaur Bone Location 3: On Mountain North of Elysian Pool
This Dinosaur Bone can be located to the north of the Elysian Pool. Head to the location pictured on the map above and you will find the bone.
Dinosaur Bone Location 4: On Mountain West of Roanoke Valley
Head to the spot on the map above to find the next Dinosaur Bone on top of a mountain.
Dinosaur Bone Location 5: On Hill West of The Loft
You will find this Dinosaur Bone to the left of The Loft (located in Grizzlies East). Follow the road from the loft to the west and you will reach the spot with the Dinosaur Bone (shown on map above).
Dinosaur Bone Location 6: On Mountain West of O’Creagh’s Run
To find the next Dinosaur Bone, make your way to the top of the mountain located to the west of O’Creag’s Run. On the very top you will find this Dinosaur Bone.
Dinosaur Bone Location 7: Beside House North of the O in Hanover
You will find this next Dinosaur Bone located on the south side of the house north of the O in Hanover on your map. Go to the location shown above to find this Dinosaur Bone.
Dinosaur Bone Location 8: In Dry Riverbed South of L in Lemoyne
This Dinosaur Bone can be found in a dry riverbed to the south of the L in Lemoyne on your map. At the spot located on the map above you will find the bone.
Dinosaur Bone Location 9: In Dry Riverbed North of L in Lemoyne
You will find this next Dinosaur Bone located close to the one we collected at 8. This bone is located to the north of the L in Lemoyne inside a dry riverbed. Go to the spot highlighted on the map above to find it.
Dinosaur Bone Location 10: North of Railroad Line in Grassy Hill
The next three Dinosaur Bones can be located around the same area. To get to this area you need to head to the east of Flatneck Station. Follow the railroad line and then head into the grassy hills. In the grass hill you will find this bone.
Dinosaur Bone Location 11: In Valley of The Heartlands
This Dinosaur Bone can be found to the northeast of Bone 10. It is inside a valley in The Heartlands. Go to the exact spot marked on the map above to find it. You may need to use eagle eye as the bone is hard to see.
Dinosaur Bone Location 12: Under Oil Derrick
To the north of the bone we found in 11, there is an abandoned Oil Derrick. Go down the ladder underneath the Oil Derrick platform to reach a cave. Inside the cave is the Dinosaur Bone.
Dinosaur Bone Location 13: On Mountain West of I in Ambarino
You will find this Dinosaur Bone in the mountainside west of the I in Ambarino on your map. For an exact location, see the map above.
Dinosaur Bone Location 14: On Mountain Northwest of Fort Wallace
This Dinosaur Bone can be found on the mountain to the northwest of Fort Wallace. It can be collected at the exact map location shown above.
Dinosaur Bone Location 15: On Cliff North of Dakota River
This next Dinosaur Bone can be found on a cliff overlooking the Dakota River. Go to the spot highlighted on the map above to reach the bone.
Dinosaur Bone Location 16: On Cliff South of C in Cumberland
To find this Dinosaur Bone, make your way south of the C in Cumberland. Eventually you will reach a cliff. On the top of the cliff id the Dinosaur Bone.
Dinosaur Bone Location 17: In Mountain Along Dakota River (Northwest of Valentine)
This Dinosaur Bone is in a mountain along the Dakota River. This mountain can be found to the northwest of Valentine. You will probably need to use your Eagle Eye for this one as it can be hard to spot otherwise. Should be located at the map spot above.
Dinosaur Bone Location 18: On Hill to Northwest of Valentine
This Dinosaur Bone is located northwest of Valentine among some grass on a hill. For the exact location consult the map above.
Dinosaur Bone Location 19: In Cliff by Dakota River
To find this Dinosaur Bone you need to make your way to the location marked on the map above. Use your Eagle Eye to find the fossil in the cliff wall.
Dinosaur Bone Location 20: Inside Cave to Northeast of Watson’s Cabin
You will find this Dinosaur Bone inside a cave to the northeast of Watson’s Cabin (located by Wallace Station). The entrance to the cave is highlighted on the map above. Go inside the cave to find the bone.
Dinosaur Bone Location 21: Along Trail Directly Directly Southeast of the W in West Elizabeth
To find this Dinosaur Bone, make your way southeast of the W in West Elizabeth on your map. Along the trail here (dotted line), you will find the Dinosaur Bone.
Dinosaur Bone Location 22: Along Trail to West of Mount Shann
You will find this Dinosaur Bone along the trail heading to the west of Mount Shann. It is lying on the ground near a cliff edge.
Dinosaur Bone Location 23: On Cliff Top Along San Luis River
This Dinosaur Bone is located along the Cliff Top north of the San Luis River. You will find the bone at the spot marked on the map above.
Dinosaur Bone Location 24: In Northwest Portion of Canyon
This Dinosaur Bone is found in the canyon in New Austin. Make your way to the spot highlighted in the map above to find it.
Dinosaur Bone Location 25: On Cliff in Rio Del Lobo Rock
You can find this Dinosaur Bone on a cliff in Rio Del Lobo Rock by the San Luis River. If you go to the spot highlighted on the map above, you will find the bone.
Dinosaur Bone Location 26: On Mountain Southwest of Fort Mercer
This Dinosaur Bone can be found on a mountain to the southwest of Fort Mercer. The exact location can be seen in the photo above.
Dinosaur Bone Location 27: On Hill Northeast of Mercer Station
You will find this Dinosaur Bone on a hill to the northeast of Mercer Station. Go to the spot on the map above to reach it.
Dinosaur Bone Location 28: On Wall West of Rattlesnake Hollow (North Cholla Springs)
To find this Dinosaur Bone, make your way to Rattlesnake Hollow and head west. There is a rock wall that you will reach which has the Dinosaur Bone in it.
Dinosaur Bone Location 29: On Hill Northeast of Tumbleweed
You will find this Dinosaur Bone directly in between the letters D and G of Gaptooth Ridge. You need to make your way up to the spot shown on the map above. This can be done using the pathway found to the southeast.
Dinosaur Bone Location 30: On Hill Southeast of Tumbleweed
The final Dinosaur Bone can be found on the hill to the southeast of Tumbleweed. To reach this area you will need to go up the pathway by the windmill on the north side. Once you do this, go all the way south until you reach the bone.
Completing Stranger Mission “A Test of Faith”
Once you’ve collected all 30 Dinosaur Bones, you will be prompted to send them off to MacGuiness. To do this, make your way to any Post Office and speak with the Station Clerk. When you speak to the clerk you will have the option to send mail. Select this option and send all 30 Dinosaur Bones. When you’ve done this, you will need to wait for a response from MacGuiness. This response takes a couple of days, so find a way to pass the time (sleeping is good). Once you get a response, you will be asked to visit MacGuiness.
Visit MacGuiness
The invitation from MacGuiness will ask you to com to Firewood Rise in Cumberland Forest as soon as possible (see map above for location). Once you arrive there you will be greeted by MacGuiness and shown the complete skeleton of the Totalisorus. Once the cutscene ends, you will have completed the Stranger Mission “A Test of Faith”.
