Everything Announced in the RE Showcase Livestream Today
Capcom announced last week that they would be holding a livestream to give fans a closer look at their upcoming title Resident Evil Village. The showcase has now come and gone and with it a trove of new information regarding the new Resident Evil title. To help you run through everything announced in the RE Showcase, we’ve put together a short list of the different announcements you can view below.
RE Showcase Content January 21, 2021
Capcom held a special livestream on January 21, 2021 to preview the eighth game in the main line of the Resident Evil series called Resident Evil Village. This stream lasted roughly 20 minutes and featured a nice mix of new Resident Evil Village content. The stream also touched on planned celebrations attached to Resident Evil 25th anniversary. The full announcements made were:
Resident Evil Village
- Release date announced as May 7, 2021.
- Pre-order start today with editions announced including Deluxe and Collector’s Editions that contain a few extra goodies.
- World premiere gameplay footage. This footage contained a good look at combat, including some large open areas with multiple enemies. It also showed The Duke, a new gunsmith merchant that is thick.
- Exclusive PlayStation 5 demo look. Players play the Maiden character, not Ethan. There is no combat in the demo. This demo is available starting today on PS5. A demo for the other platforms is coming later in the spring.
Resident Evil 25th Anniversary Stuff
- World premiere trailer for RE:Verse. A multiplayer PvEvP experience that has a cell shaded aesthetic.
- The Division 2 x Resident Evil crossover outfits available when you login to The Division on February 2.
- Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness cg movie touched on briefly. A few clips shown.
Announced back in June of 2020, Resident Evil Village is an upcoming title for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC set to release on May 7, 2021.
