Gears of War 4 Prologue Gameplay

Gears of War 4 is now on the horizon with players being able to pre-load later today on Xbox One. Ahead of the October 11th release, Microsoft and developer The Coalition have released 20 minutes of Gears of War 4 prologue gameplay to help build launch hype.

The 20 minute video shows off various gameplay elements GOW faithfuls have come to know and love. Locust, check. Brutal shotgun kills, check. Hammer of Dawn, check. Random soldier doing their best DJ Khaled, check. Squad based gameplay, check. People dying, check. Humanity being wiped out, check. Basically the game is very Gears looking. The prologue levels all look interesting and it appears players will have beautiful levels to explore.

From a story perspective, the prologue highlights some of the key battles throughout the Gear’s series history. From the Pendulum Wars, to Emergence Day, to Anvil Gate, players are thrown into the fray almost immediately. Through these wars, the world is now at peace, but this peace obviously wont last.

The prologue also highlights a new character called First Minister Jinn who will play a role throughout the story of Gears of War 4. There are also a few familiar faces, from my personal favorite Colonel Victor Hoffman to Dominic Santiago. The prologue ends with a mysterious bald man, who is seated in front of  a TV screen as well as some computer monitors. Who this is remains to be seen (Marcus?).

Gears of War 4 is the fifth entry into the Gear’s series. The story picks up 25 years after the Imulsion Countermeasure weapon destroyed all Imulsion on the planet Sera. Using the ICW has had negative effects on the planet and has put human survival in jeopardy. The story follows J.D Fenix, son of Marcus Fenix and Anya Stroud.

Gears of War 4 is slated for release October 11th, on both Xbox One and PC.

What do you think if the Gears of War 4 prologue gameplay shown off? Excited to get the game? Already pre-loaded? Let me know in the Pit below.
