Google Stadia Pricing, Game Reveals, and Launch Info Revealed During Live Stream

Three months ago Google announced their upcoming game streaming service, Stadia, with only a few pieces of information. Now, thanks to a Stadia Connect live stream, we know the Stadia pricing; have seen some game reveals, and know more about the services launch.

General Information on Google Stadia

Google Stadia is an upcoming game streaming service being developed by Google. This service aims to allow players to play on any screen, by simply picking up a controller and playing. Stadia is provided by offloading the traditional console computations to Google servers. At this point in time you are able to use Stadia on a PC that has chrome access, TVs that have a Chromecast Ultra plugged in, and Pixel 3 or higher smartphones (more smartphone support coming soon).

Using the Stadia requires a decent internet connect, 10 Mbps will reach 720p while 35 Mbps is recommended for gaming in 4K, HDR, and 60 FPS. You can visit Stadia’s official website to test your connection.

The Stadia service promises no console required, no patches, no waiting for downloads, just pick up and play.

Google Stadia Pricing

Stadia Pro will start at $9.99 a month. This subscription allows you to play in 4K, HDR, 60 FPS, and 5.1 Surround.

Alongside Stadia Pro there will be a Stadia Founder’s Edition which you can preorder today. for $129. Inside the Founder’s Edition there is a Chromecast Ultra, a special Night Blue gamepad, three months of Stadia Pro (plus a buddy pass), full Destiny 2 experience, and claims to your gamertag early. The Founder’s Edition will be available in November 2019.

If you don’t want to pay a subscription fee there is Stadia Base which lets players buy games akin to a Steam like service. This service will arrive in 2020.

During the live stream there were a few trailers including a look at Baldur’s Gate 3, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint, Gylt, and Get Packed. There was also a short mashup featuring a number of already released games like Metro Exodus, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Mortal Kombat 11, and more.
