Heading To The Isle Of Wes With The Isle of Dogs Trailer
It is difficult to talk about stuff that you love without being hyperbolic. So, with the drop of a trailer for a new Wes Anderson film, I face a conundrum. Do I just gush all over the thing, and go full fanboy, or do I try and pick the thing apart and provide some sort of insight. The answer is neither. I find that you are either a Wes Anderson sort of person, or you are not. The type of people who are Wes Anderson people are extremely diverse and come from all walks of life, just like the type of people that aren’t Wes Anderson people. Because Anderson has such a specific film making style, and works so exclusively within his wheelhouse, I feel like any expectation that a new Wes Anderson film will somehow win people over, and convince them to be Wes Anderson people, isn’t a realistic thought. Wes Anderson does his thing, he does it very well, and if you dig his thing, than check out the trailer below, if you don’t dig his thing, than this trailer is advertising a film that probably wont be for you.
As for the trailer itself, it’s a great trailer. It provides enough visuals and information to be intriguing, though there is still a bit of mystery regarding where the story might go. The animation style is completely in the Fantastic Mr. Fox vein, and seeing this trailer has me wanting to revisit that film. Really, I think that this is all that I need to see regarding the film until I see the actual film. The trailer has peaked my interest, it shows enough so that I have a grasp on the story, but doesn’t spoil anything, and it has me symbolically circling March 23rd, 2018 on my non-existent physical calendar. Thus, I will likely avoid any further trailers or promotion for this film, so that I can preserve the cinematic experience as much as possible. In summation, the trailer is a great success.
I was going to send the trailer to you when I saw it up. Looks like there was no need. I’m stoked for it.
Looks like a good watch!
