How to Fast Travel in Red Dead Redemption 2

Red Dead Redemption 2 has a huge map. Like I mean huge. With the map being so large you may find it long getting to places you’ve been before on horseback. Luckily for you there is a fast travel system which you can use to cut down on travel time. Below I will show you how to fast travel in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Post Office (Ride the Train)

One way of fast traveling throughout the world of Red Dead Redemption 2 is by riding on trains. This can be done by going to the Post Office in town; speaking with the clerk; and purchasing a ticket from them. Once you’ve purchased a ticket, you will be transported via train to the location you’ve selected. Keep in mind that the further away the stop you select, the more expensive the ticket is. The nice thing about taking a train is that you don’t have to have visited the location before to go to it.

Stagecoach

If you don’t want to ride the train, you can opt to use the Stagecoach as your form of fast travel. Like the train you will find signs for the Stagecoach in towns you visit. To use the Stagecoach you will need to have visited the location you wish to travel to (unlike the train). The further away the stop, the more money it will cost you to travel.

Travelling in both the Train or Stagecoach take a few seconds as the game uses this time to load.

Fast Travel from Camp

If you upgrade Arthur’s tent, you can fast travel from it.

If travelling via Train or Stagecoach has little interest to you, there is also a way of getting fast travel from your tent at the camp. To do this you need to complete Strauss’s story mission, “Money Lending and other Sins.” In this mission your are tasked with getting money back from debtors. There are a total of 3 of them to go after, but you only need to get money from one to put in the donation box.

Once you’ve done this mission you unlock the Ledger. Using the Ledger you can begin to upgrade your camp. The Fast Travel upgrade is called “Next in Line” and it costs $325. By purchasing this upgrade, Arthur will gain the ability of fast travelling from camp using the map on the back of the stagecoach by his tent.
