Go to Secluded Cabin to the Northeast of Reed Cottage

To get the Rare Shotgun you need to take it from a hermit. This hermit is located in a secluded cabin to the northeast of Reed Cottage in Roanoke. When you reach the cabin, you will trigger an event. At this time it is best to get into cover as the person inside the cabin want you to get off their property. Remain on the property in cover and wait for the person to come out. When the person comes out, they will come out blasting. Shoot them and loot the Rare Shotgun off of their body. Once you’ve looted the Rare Shotgun it will be added to your Compendium.
