Destiny 2: How to Unlock the Python Shotgun
In Destiny 2 Season 9 there are a number of new weapons for players to unlock. Some of these new weapons are Exotics while others are Legendaries. One Legendary players can work to unlock is the Python. This Legendary shotgun can be unlocked by completing a certain quest-line for The Drifter. Get the Get Closer Quest from The Drifter
To start the quest-line for the Python you need to first speak to The Drifter on the Tower. When you speak to The Drifter you should see a new quest in his Quest offerings called Get Closer. Accept the Get Closer quest to add it to your quest log and trigger its quest step called Spitting Distance.
How to Complete Spitting Distance Quest Step?
The Spitting Distance quest step features three requirements that need to be completed in order to unlock the Python shotgun. These steps involve defeating enemies or Guardians in Gambit activities using a shotgun in the following ways:
- 500 Shotgun Final Blows.
- 150 Close-range Final Blows.
- Infamy rank “Heroic.”
Keep in mind that Guardians killed in the above mentioned ways yield more efficient progress than simple enemies. With that said you will want to take what you can get when it comes to points. When you do jump into the Gambit game mode be sure you have a shotgun equipped and ready to use. Besides that advice this quest is largely skill and time based. The more Gambit you play the more likely you are to complete this quest.
Once you complete all three steps of the quest step above turn in the quest to The Drifter to receive the Python shotgun weapon reward.
Python Weapon Perks
The Python comes Masterworked when you receive it and it features some interesting Perks. One Perk I found to be rather noteworthy is the One-Two Punch which increases melee damage if you hit an enemy with every pellet of a shot. You can check out all of the possible Python Weapon Perks below.
- Aggressive Frame (Frame): Hard-hitting, high recoil. Increases rate of fire after kill.
- Overflow: Picking up Special or Heavy ammo reloads this weapon to beyond normal capacity.
- Feeding Frenzy: Kills with this weapon increase reload speed for a short time.
- Shield Disorient: Energy matched shield explosion disorients nearby combatants.
- One-Two Punch: Hitting an enemy with every pellet in a shot increases melee damage for a short duration.
