Jurassic World Evolution Announced at Gamescom 2017
Gamescom 2017 is happening as I type this, and that means tons of new game reveals. One reveal I recently heard about is Jurassic World Evolution. If you were alive back in 2003, you may recall Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis, a park builder game set in the Jurassic Park universe. It seems that Jurassic World Evolution is in that same vein.
Jurassic World Evolution Trailer
At Gamescom fans got their first look at Jurassic World Evolution through the game’s reveal trailer. While not much is shown in the trailer, we get to see some potential gameplay elements including breeding, breakouts, and general park building.
Players will be ” …in control of operations on the legendary island of Isla Nublar and the surrounding islands of the Muertes Archipelago. Players will build their own Jurassic World as they bioengineer new dinosaur breeds and construct attractions, containment and research facilities. Every choice leads to a different path and spectacular challenges arise when ‘life finds a way.” (Source).
Set to release in summer 2018 on Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC, this Jurassic Park themed park-builder simulator is being developed by Frontier Developments. If this studio sounds familiar, it could be due to their other titles like Elite: Dangerous and Planet Coster.
As a fan of Jurassic Park Genesis, I am cautiously optimistic that Jurassic World Evolution will deliver a similar experience but with more refined gameplay elements. I am especially intrigued to see how working on other simulator games helps in this game’s development.
