Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening – Starting Out Guide
When you start your adventure in The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, you will take control of Link in Mabe Village. From here you will be tasked with starting your adventure. Consult our starting out guide below to get started.
Getting Your Shield
At the start of the game you will wake up to Marin and Tarin. Speak to Marin then leave the bed and head over to Tarin. Speak with Tarin to receive your Shield. Once you have the shield exit the building and head to the southwest of the village to reach the area called Toronbo Shores.
Getting Your Sword
Avoid the enemies as you make your way to Toronbo Shores. On these shores you will find your sword. As you head towards the sword you will trigger a scene with Owl. Owl provides you direction as you travel the world. The direction he gives is to head north to the Mysterious Forest. Grab the Sword and head north back to the village.
Mysterious Forest
From the the Mabe Village and head out the northwest exit to reach the Mysterious Forest. Inside the Mysterious Forest Owl will appear to you once again. Owl tells you to take the key from the Mysterious Forest and use it on the Tail Cave (south of the village). To learn more about the Mysterious Forest, check out our guide here.
