Legendary Pokemon Locations | Pokemon Sun and Moon
Before diving deep into this guide, let me first start off with a spoiler warning. The guide below shows all legendary Pokemon locations and should be avoided if you enjoy finding these mythical beasts organically. If you don’t care, continue reading.
Legendary Pokemon are the most powerful Pokemon you can find in Pokemon Sun and Moon. Eac addition has there own unique legendary: Pokemon Sun has Solgaleo while Pokemon Moon has Lunala. Aside from these two Pokemon, all other legendaries can be found in both versions. Below are is a guide to all legendary Pokemon locations. Let’s go.
Where to Find Solgaleo (Pokemon Sun)
If you are the proud owner of Pokemon Sun, the psychic/steel Sunne Pokemon, Solgaleo is your storyline legendary Pokemon. Solgaleo is encountered automatically during the storyline and appears at the Altar of the Sunne.
In order to catch this rare Pokemon, simply save scum… I am serious. If you oppose this method you can utilize a the false swipe method with a combo of status effects (sleep or paralysis). The reason I endorse saving scumming is simply that the legendary Pokemon can be a bit finicky to catch sometimes and when they are dead that’s your chance lost.
Where to Find Lunala (Pokemon Moon)
For those that own Pokemon Moon (like me), the psychic/ghost Pokemon Lunala is your copy specific legendary. Lunala is encountered automatically during the storyline and will appear when at the Altar of the Moone.
In order to catch this rare Pokemon, simply apply the same method as mentioned above (reposting here) “simply save scum… I am serious. If you oppose this method you can utilize a the false swipe method with a combo of status effects (sleep or paralysis). The reason I endorse saving scumming is simply that the legendary Pokemon can be a bit finicky to catch sometimes and when they are dead that’s your chance lost.”
Where to Find Cosmog
Cosmog, the Pokemon who starts it all, can be yours after becoming Pokemon League Champion. Once you have completed the main game, head back to the Alter of Sunne (during the night) or Alter Moone (during the day) with either Solgaleo or Lunala in your party. Once there, you will find a portal which will take you an alternate Alola. From here, head to either the Lake of the Sunne, or Lake of the Moone; here you will encounter the Legendary Pokemon from the other version. Once this sequence is complete, Cosmog will appear and you can choose to take it! Cosmog can evolve at level 43 into Cosmoem.
How to Find Zygarde
Zygarde is a unique Pokemon, in that it is actually a collection of 100 Zygarde cells. These 100 cells are spread out around Alola and must be collected in order to unlock this legendary. I probably won’t do a guide on this, but I will post a link of a good one over at Serebii. At 10% (10 cells collected) you can create the 10% Zygarde; at 50% (50 collected) you can create the 50% form; at 100% you can create the complete Zygarde who can change between 10% and 50% while also turning into complete form in battle.
How to Find Tapu Koko, Tapu Bulu, Tapu Lele and Tapu Fini
For the sake of space I will lump the island Legendary Pokemon Locations together as they all follow the same procedure (become league champion and return to altars):
Tapu Koko – Once champion, return to the Ruins of Conflict. Lillie will suggest you make a wish at the altar. Once you do this, Tapu Koko will challenge you.
Tapu Bulu – Once champion, return to the Ruins of Abundance and touch the altar. Tapu Bulu will challenge you.
Tapu Lele – Once champion, return to the Ruins of Life and touch the altar. Once you do this, Tapu Lele will challenge you.
Tapu Fini – Once champion, return to the Ruins of Hope and touch the altar. Once you do thi, Tapu Fini will challenge you.
Notes
- There is one more legendary available to catch in Pokemon Sun and Moon, Necrozma, but due to where it falls in the story I will be including his location within my Ultra Beast location walkthrough.
- With the save editor out in the wild, it is possible that these Pokemon could be got via WonderTrade (the probability of this is probably low), however note that this is an option for legendaries.
- My favorite looking legendary is easily Zygarde’s final form.
