Maye Town Guide – Vigil: The Longest Night

Once you complete the Maye Bridge you will reach Maye Town. Maye Town serves as a sort of hub area in Vigil: The Longest Night where you will meet numerous NPCs and merchants. While in this town you will not fight enemies, but will instead spend your time exploring and speaking to NPCs. To get the most out of your visit use our Maye Town guide below.

Meet the Vice Captain, Return a Helmet, and Get the Iron Halbred

After the short cutscene when you enter Maye Town you will want to speak to the Vice Captain who is standing next to the town entrance. Speak to this NPC to tell him you defeated The Craving Terror. When news of your victory is received he will mention giving a letter to the captain. This earns you a Note.

To deliver the letter simply head up the stairs behind the Vice Captain into the Gate Outpost. In the Gate Outpost head up the stairs to the second floor. Head to the left and speak to the guard named Steve to return the Stinky Helmet we got in the Maye Bridge area. This will start a short little side quest involving a Collection of Duran’s Letters.

Once you’ve delivered the helmet to Steve head right, ignoring the stairs, until you reach the otherside of the outpost. On this exterior balcony head as far right as you can to find 5x Molotovs. Head back to the stairs we previously ignored and go up them to reach the top floor where Captain Carl’s office can be found on the left-side. Speak to him to about the beast to receive the Weapon – Iron Halbred and a Note. Head to the left of Captain Carl and grab the 20x Iron Arrows next to the crates. Leave the Outpost.

Idonea’s Shop

The next building to the right of the Gate Outpost is Idonea’s Shop. Head inside the shop to find an Owl Statue. Use it to save your game then head left and speak to Idonea. Idonea sells a number of useful items for purchase:

  • Healing Potion – 15 Gold/Each.
  • Molotov – 12 Gold/Each.
  • Throwing Knife – 12 Gold/Each.
  • Dynamite – 50 Gold/Each.

For now you should stock up on Healing Potions if you need them. Don’t spend too much of your gold as you may wish to purchase items from the upcoming Blacksmith. Once you have bought what you wanted leave the shop and head to the right to reach the Smithy.

Smithy

In the Smithy head to the right and speak to Isidora, the manager. Isidora handles your storage which is where excess items go. Speak to her to learn about the system then continue heading to the right and use the Owl Statue. Once you’ve done this continue to the right to reach Zachary, the smithy. Zachary offers a few services:

  • Trade: Buy/Sell weapons, armor, and other items.
  • Forge: Upgrade stats of weapons and armor.
  • Enchant: Add two unique abilities to armor and weapons using gems.

Take a look at the items for sale and forge your weapon to +1 if you feel like it. After this leave the Smithy and head to the right to the Professor’s Home.

Professor’s Home

Head to the right inside the home to find a book on the table called Adversity Paved Road 11-6. Read it for the lore then head up the stairs. On the bed to the right you will find a Healing Potion and the General Trauma Treatment lore. Interact with both then return to the floor below and leave the house. That’s all we can do in there for now. Head right of the Professor’s House to reach Mukddars’ Home.

Mukddars’ Home

Go to the right in the house until you reach Mukddars. Speak to him to 4x times to receive the Hand of Shadow item. Receiving this item will start a side quest you can complete for Mukddars. When read leave the building. Ignore the chest you see above the exit for now until you have double jump (contains 100 Gold).

Tavern

Next door to Mukddars is the Tavern. Head inside the Tavern and speak to Swane on the first floor for some lore. Head downstairs to speak to Steve if you wish. Grab the 5x Tequila off the table Steve is at then head back upstairs and exit the Tavern. Head down the street and speak to Silian to get the Birthday Cake and a Note. Once you’ve spoken to Silian she will return to the Tavern where she works. Don’t bother going back to talk to her. Instead head inside your Home.

Home

When you enter your Home you will trigger a flashback. After the flashback walk up to the table to place the cake. Interact with Daisy’s Note to learn she was missing a number of items for a ceremony she has gone to find. Once you have read the note exit the Home and continue heading to the right down the street. Eventually you will reach the Supply Warehouse. Go inside it.

Supply Warehouse

Head to the left in the Supply Warehouse to meet Thurber W. Sungi. Speak to him to learn that a number of people have gone missing and the emperor is worried. You can talk to him a few times to earn a number of Notes. Once this is done leave the Supply Warehouse and continue heading to the right until you leave Maye Town and enter the Outskirts of Maye.

This is all you should do on the first visit to Maye Town. As you unlock more sidequests and abilities there will be more to do in the town. For now complete what is listed above and stock up on supplies before leaving the area.
