Mother! Not To Be Confused With Mother
The trailer for Darren Aronofsky’s newest film since Noah has dropped, and it is definitely one of the best trailers so far this year. Mother! which I assume has been stylized to avoid confusion with Bong Joon-Ho’s Mother, seems to be playing in the same sandbox as Aronofsky’s Black Swan, with the trailer selling a film that is filled to the brim with tension, paranoia, and confusion.
Really, there is little to dislike about this trailer. We are not getting much plot wise, and the trailers editing is very quickly paced, so we don’t get much of a sense at all what the movie is actually about, which is a good thing. The sound design is fantastic, with moments that play fade between the speaker channels, in a way that certainly compliments the off kilter tone of the trailer. The trailer is also short for an official trailer, only running two minutes and twelve seconds, which I hope is something that Paramount sticks with for this film’s advertising, because there are clearly a lot of secrets that we will have to uncover by actually seeing the film.
My anticipation has certainly been peaked by this trailer. This advertisement is promising striking visuals, powerhouse performances, and a delicious sense of dread that has me excited to see the film when it drops on September 15th.
I can’t support anything with Jennifer Lawrence now. Thanks for breaking up Pratt and Farris. #FeelsBadMan
