Nintendo Switch Getting First Streaming App Today
The Nintendo Switch is getting its first streaming app today and it isn’t Netflix. Hulu has announced that it will be releasing its streaming app for the Nintendo Switch through the eShop.
In Hulu’s announcement, the company had this to say about the release:
We are very proud to announce that Hulu is the first US streaming entertainment service to debut on Nintendo Switch! Beginning later today, Hulu subscribers will now be able to use their Nintendo Switch to stream all of their favorite TV whether they’re at home or on the go.
Like many streaming services, Hulu offers a number of entertainment options including films and Live TV (channels such as ESPN, Fox Sports, CNN, FX, Bravo, TNT, and A&E). Downloading the new Hulu app is free, but you will need to either purchase the $7.99 service or $39.99 Hulu with Live TV plan service to access Hulu’s catalogue.
With the arrival of Hulu on the Nintendo Switch, it is only a matter of time until other streaming services (Netflix) follow suit. When asked by The Washington Post early this year about streaming services coming to the Switch, president and COO of Nintendo of America confirmed that apps such as Amazon and Netflix “will come in time”. Seems like that time may be coming soon.
The Hulu app will be available later today when the eShop updates.
