Toad Town Collectibles List
- Coming Soon.
First Visit to Toad Town Guide
Along the path to Toad Town you will encounter Not-Bottomless Hole 1. Fill this hole to receive some coins. Continue heading to the right to encounter a group of Goombas. When you walk up to them a battle will start. In this fight Olivia will teach you about Sliding enemies around instead of rotating. Complete the battle and continue to the right filling in the Not-Bottomless Holes 2,3,4,5 along your path. Eventually you will reach the Toad Town. Walk inside to trigger a cutscene.
In the Toad Town you will see a giant Goomba that is eating the paper in the town. When you have control of Mario walk up behind the giant Goomba and smack the seal on its back. Smack the Goomba a few more times to defeat it. Once that’s done hit the save block and then fill in the Not-Bottomless Holes 6+7 in the town square area.
Once these two holes are filled walk next to the item shop and go underneath the ramp leading up so you go to the left. Here you will find a chest with the Collectible Treasure No 4: Torch from Peach’s Castle. Once this is collected head back to town square and make your way to the left. Go into the house to the left of the one we repaired with confetti.
Go through the door in the back to reach another chest with the Collectible Treasure No 5: Camp Speaker in it. Continue to the left to find a save block and pipe. Avoid these for now and continue head as far left as you can to find another pipe that has a sticker on it. Peel this sticker off to get a faster way back to the town square. Return to the save block and pipe and go into the pipe.
Sewer Entrance and the A Possible Way Out
This pipe you enter will take you to the entrance to Peach’s Castle. The bridge has been destroyed so you will have to find an alternative route. Head to the building on your left to find a Shy Guy stuck in a door. Pull out the Shy Guy and he will give you some information regarding the entrance to the castle. In the building he was stuck to there is a sewer grate you can go down. Don’t go down there yet as there is a bit more exploration to be done.
Follow the path down and take your first right. so you are in a fenced in yard with a house in it. Take out the giant Goomba that attacks you then fill in Not-Bottomless Hole 8 by the house. Go inside the house and open the cupboard to get a heart if needed. Make your way back outside to the path and continue heading down it to reach Not-Bottomless Hole 9. Fill this in to get an easy way back to the save block we used earlier.
Don’t go down the stairs instead head around them so you reach the building with Not-Bottomless Hole 10. Fill this hole and go inside. In the house hit the dresser to the right so the drawer comes out. Jump on the drawer then jump to the window. Hit the window with your hammer to open it. Jump through the window to reach the backyard where you can fight the Giant Goomba and save the Shy Guy.
Once you’ve completed this left section of the town return to the broken bridge and go to the right. Ignore the first house and instead head under the large deck of the big building. Here you will find Not-Bottomless Hole 11. Fill it in to reach the Shy Guy that’s actually a Snift. Go back to the building’s entrance and fill in the Not-Bottomless Hole 12. Go inside the building and fill in Not-Bottomless Hole 13 (which is all we can do here for now). Head back outside and continue heading to the right reach a giant Goomba next to a fountain. Defeat this enemy and use the save if needed. Continue right to reach Not-Bottomless Hole 14. Head down from this hole and you will encounter the final Giant Goomba of the area. Defeat it then fill in the Not-Bottomless Hole 15.
How to Leave Toad Town
Once you’ve done everything listed above head back to the sewer grate and interact with it to learn we need a manhole hook to open it. This manhole hook is hidden somewhere in Toad Town. To advance the story we need to find this hook. According to the Shy Guy nearby the manhole hook is somewhere in town and you should ask another shy guy about its location. The Shy Guy you need to speak to is the one we saved by going through the window into the backyard. Backtrack to this NPC and speak to him to learn the location of the Manhole Hook.
Manhole Hook Location
The Manhole Hook can be found inside the red building next to the docks on the right side of Toad Town. To access this building you need to first fill in the Not-Bottomless Hole that we filled in earlier. Once this is filled in you can go inside the building.
In the building you can pull the Koopa kid out of the box to the right. Once you’ve done this hit the shelf on the right wall with your hammer to knock a box off of the shelf that reveals a 1,000-Fold Arms spot. Use this spot to peel the middle wall to reveal a doorway. Go through the doorway into the next room and defeat the Goombas there. Once defeated jump onto the green cart and make your way over it to the left. Turn and hit the cart with your hammer so it goes to the right. Climb the cart to reach the shelves where the Manhole Hook is.
Once you have the Manhole Hook head back to the sewer grate and use it to open it. Descend down the now open hole to reach the area called Graffiti Underground. This concludes our first visit to Toad Town. Fear not as we will be back to this location many times throughout the game.
Other Side of the Toad Town Bridge: Saving Luigi Guide
Note: Pass through Graffiti Underground to reach this section.
Once you make your way through the Graffiti Underground you will emerge on the other-side of the bridge in the ruins of the castle. Walk forward into the ruins and take a left to find a ? Block (disregard . Hit this block then return from where you came and walk forward to Luigi’s Hat to trigger a cutscene. After this cutscene walk to the only remaining wall in the back left corner and climb the rubble to reach the shelf with the pot on it. Hit the pot to reveal a 1,000-Fold Arms spot. Use this spot to peel back the wall revealing Luigi. Hit Luigi with your hammer to free him.
After Luigi is free return to the entrance and you will notice a the kart to the right is now gone. Go through the now accessible path behind the gate and use the save block. Go up the stairs and walk along the walk to the foreground to reach another set of stairs you can go down. Cross the bridge at the bottom of the stairs then hammer the tower closest to the screen. This will cause the Goomba to fall. Defeat the Goomba in battle then use the 1,000-Fold Arms spot that drops to open the tower. Here you will find the only Toad in this location.
When freed the Toad tells you they are going to be heading back to town where they run the weapons store. As they attempt to go back they will mention the bridge is broken. To fix the bridge (making a shortcut back to town) take the path down where the Toad went and tear off the sticker holding the bridge down. Once this is done you can go back to town or continue along the path to the right before the bridge that leads to Picnic Road. You can read about both the shop and museum below to see if they are places you wish to visit now.
Toad Town Weapon and Item Shop
If you opt to go to the weapon and item shops first you will find it located at the bottom of the steps next to the museum. Inside the shop you can purchase various Weapons and Items that will help you on your journey. At this point in time the shop will sell:
- Iron Boots – 300.
- Fire Flower – 240.
- Mushroom – 100.
- Fire Flower Set – 640.
- Mushroom 3-Pack – 270.
- Mushroom 6-Pack – 540.
While in the store you will notice a number of empty shelves. As you advance the game these shelves are filled with new items you can purchase.
Toad Town Museum
To the left of the Weapon and Item shop you will find the Toad Town Museum. In this building can view the various collectibles you’ve found during you travels. Since it is relatively early in the game you will not have much to look at at this time.
