Stardew Valley Community Center or JojaMart?

With Stardew Valley’s new 1.1 update finally out, I decided to jump back into the game. Instead of completing the Community Center, I decided to complete the JojaMart requirements instead. So what exactly are the benefits of each ending? This guide will lay out which is better, Community Center or JoJaMart. Players on Playstation 4 and Xbox One should also keep this guide in mind as they begin their journey in Stardew Valley.

Community Center

Community Center or JojaMart

The old Community Center

Stardew Valley’s overarching theme is about escaping working in a soul crushing city job. The player leaves their city job behind, moves to Stardew Valley and lives a much more comfortable life. As a farmer you get the benefits of being your own boss, keeping your own hours and choosing what to do to make money. Unfortunately for you, much of Stardew Valley’s residents are incapable of general upkeep in the town, specifically the Community Center. The Community Center is in such a state of disrepair, that a group of cross dimensional creatures have taken up residence.

Look at this place!

The mayor, realizing the resident’s incompetence, asks you, the new towns person, to rehabilitate the Community Center. Basically to get the Center looking good as new again, the player is tasked with completing various bundles. These bundles are given to the Junimo, who take them to their God to be sacrificed. Each bundle is related to ‘fixes’ on the over-world. For a super in depth look at each bundle, the Stardew Valley wiki is a good resource.

One of the bundles

Completing Stardew Valley’s Community Center is very gathering heavy. Note that taking this choice is more time consuming then the JojaMart. With that in mind, the benefits of completing the Community Center are huge. Each completed bundle rewards the player with useful items such as seeds, or craftable items (sprinklers, kilns, beehives, etc.). Choosing the Community Center is a good way of seeing all the game has to offer.

The reward the player receives for completing the Community Center is crushing Capitalism and securing a monopolized seed market for Pierre. Seriously. Once the Community Center is finished Pierre literally punches the Manager of the JojaMart into the stratosphere. Want to see the ending? Check out the video below.

Verdict: With a little bit of time invested, the Community Center far outweighs the JojaMart path.

So that’s the verdict on the Community Center. Players receive a ton of useful items and actually get to explore the games systems. This is a highly recommended option for first time players of Stardew Valley. To see my thoughts on the JojaMart path follow me to the next page.
