Tena Ko’sah Shrine Guide: Location, Puzzle Solutions and Treasure Chests
South of the Tabantha Tower you will find the Tena Ko’sah Shrine. This shrine is one of the harder shrines in Breath of the Wild as it requires defeating a high level Guardian to complete. To help you tackle this challenge, use the Tena Ko’sah Shrine guide below.
Tena Ko’sah Shrine Location
The Tena Ko’sah Shrine is located in the region of Tabantha Frontier.
The Tena Ko’sah Shrine is located in the Tabantha Frontier to the south of the Tabantha Tower. You will know when you are near the shrine as it is in the Ancient Columns area surrounded by ancient columns. Before you undertake the Tena Ko’sah Shrine I highly recommend stocking up on high level weapons (guardian+ weapons are best), arrows (ice and electric), and whatever healing consumables you need. When you are ready to begin, access the terminal and make your way into the Tena Ko’sah Shrine to begin the shrine challenge.
Tena Ko’sah Shrine: A Major Test of Strength
When you enter the Tena Ko’sah Shrine you will be greeted with the text “A Major Test of Strength“. Like other test shrines, you are required to defeat a guardian before being able to proceed into the shrine room. Since this is a major test of strength, the enemy you need to defeat is quite strong. The enemy you face is the Guardian Scout IV which has a large health pool, can deal serious damage, and wields an Ancient Battle Axe++ Long Throw, a Guardian Shield++ Durability Up and a Guardian Sword++ Durability Up. Defeating this enemy is no simple task, so use these tips to help in battle:
- Prepare for the shrine in advance:
- Stock up on powerful weapons (guardian+ are ideal).
- Bring lots of healing consumables.
- Arrows, specifically ice and electric really help in this fight.
- Wear a solid armor set. The Ancient Armor set from Akkala Tech Lab is really good if you’ve got it.
- Use the pillars to disrupt the Guardian Scout IV’s spin attack.
- When in doubt, hit the Guardian IV with an ice or electric arrow to gain some breathing room.
Upon defeating the Guardian Scout IV a door to the shrine room will open. Loot weapons and items from the Guardian Scout IV’s corpse and head inside. Open the treasure chest to before Tena Ko’sah to receive a Royal Halberd. Speak with Tena Ko’sah to receive a spirit orb and end the shrine.
