Unworthy Walkthrough

Unworthy is a new indie title out of developer Aleksandar Kuzmanovic Games Inc. The gameplay in Unworthy is a 2D metroidvania with souls-like combat and boss fights. As you progress through Unworthy, you will be tasked with finding new items and abilities which will allow you to explore new areas of the world. Before jumping into the game, let’s take a quick look at the Unworthy basics.

Unworthy Controls

These are the basic controls of Unworthy. The game supports both K+M as well as controller.

Controls in Unworthy can be accessed at the Title Screen (Settings>Key Bindings) or the Pause menu ingame (Settings>Rebind Keys). In the Key Bindings/Rebind Keys menu, you’re able to set keybinds to whatever configuration you wish. I played through the game with a controller and found it to be ideal for me personally. Above is a screenshot of the standard key bindings in Unworthy.

Gameplay Notes

Kiln & Brand – Like Dark Souls, Unworthy features a checkpoint/reset system that is accessible in the world. You need to find Kilns scattered around the levels to save your game and restock your Soulflame Essence. Branding at a Kiln will also reset the world, so enemies will reappear.

Map Parchment – Found in The Boneyard. Finding this item unlocks the map for you and marks locations you have visited.

Sin – Sin is Unworthy‘s currency. It can be used to buy weapons and items to help you on your quest. You gather Sin by killing enemies or finding memories (consumable items which give Sin). When you die, you drop the Sin you’ve collected. Returning to where you died will allow you to collect the Sin you’ve dropped.

Levelling – In Unworthy, you level up automatically by killing enemies. As you level, you will notice that your health and stamina increase. Further into the game you will unlock the ability to level more specific areas of your character like hp, stamina, crit chance.

Enemies (Grimoire)

There are a number of enemies you will face in Unworthy, with some being hard and others being easy. To keep track of the various enemies you encounter, the game provides a Grimoire. In the Grimoire you can read up on the enemies you’ve faced for some extra lore.

Wanderer – “A body drained of soul is said to be without purpose. In truth it is an empty vessel. A home for something else.”

Halberd – “When existence itself is threatened, those that are able to take up arms do. The most frightened tend to grab the longest weapon they can.”

Crossbow – “Those whose hearts were stricken with the most debilitating fear found comfort in ranged weaponry. Safety in distance is a luxury not afforded to all.”

Dark Lurker – “They do not crawl before they walk, they shall not live before they die. In eternal servitude of the dark forever shall they confide.”

Absolved – “They wander aimlessly in search of something more…”

Sentinel (Shielded) – “In time some Sentinels showed signs of consciousness. Through developed thought they appeared to mimic the existence of their creator.”

Sentinel – “Worthless scraps animated by the Soulflame. With his dying breath Narcoss gave life to the Sentinels. He hoped that these soulless titans would serve as eternal wards against the filth.”

Death Speaker – “When fear consumed all but the fleeting shadow of their known existence some men turned to the Night God. Death.”

Totverfolgen – “As the old began to crumble and humanity looked to the new, many set their sights to willful penance in hopes of redemption.”
