Upgrade House Storage in Animal Crossing New Horizons
In the Animal Crossing New Horizons Winter update (called 1.6.0) there was a new addition added to expand your house storage. This new upgrade increases the storage capacity from 1,600 items to 2,400 items. This means all you hoarders out there now have more room to dump items. With that said getting the upgrade can be a bit confusing. To help here’s our how to upgrade house storage in Animal Crossing New Horizons guide below.
Purchase Upgrade From Tom Nook
Once you’ve downloaded the Winter update (1.6.0) make your way into the game. When you enter you will find a new letter from Nook Inc. in your mailbox. This letter tells you there is a new expanded storage upgrade you can purchase at Resident Services.
If you wish to pick up the upgrade for your own house make your way over to Resident Services and speak to Tom Nook. Pick the About my home… option and select Expand Storage. This purchase costs 500,000 Bells upfront (no loan). Pay the 500,000 Bells then wait for the next real life day for construction to conclude.
On the next real life day you will get a notice that your house storage has been upgraded. This means you can now hold a total of 2,400 items instead of the 1,600 items you previously could. For those of you that have a ton of items you wish to store this new purchase is a no brainer. With more capacity you can now hang onto things you may have been forced to sell off in the past. That’s all you need to know to upgrade your house storage.
