What is That? Ruiner Looks to Be a Combination of Hotline Miami and Bladerunner
Ruiner, an upcoming indie game from Reikon Games and Devolver Digital, appears to be tapping into both Hotline Miami and Blade Runner for inspiration, and I like that. Slated to release tomorrow (September 26th, 2017), Ruiner looks like it could be a fun indie gem. Let’s take a deeper dive into what exactly Ruiner is!

About Ruiner
Price: $19.99 USD
Platforms: PC (STEAM + GOG), XBOX ONE, PLAYSTATION 4
Release Date: September 26, 2017
About:
In the game, players take on the role of a “wired sociopath” in the year 2091. This character is on a mission to “uncover the truth and retrieve his kidnapped brother”, by descending deeper into the shady underworld of the cyber metropolis Rengkok.
From a gameplay perspective, the game appears to be borrowing from the likes of Hotline Miami while putting a unique spin on many of the ideas. Utilizing a top – down perspective, players are tasked with taking out various enemies using a plethora of weapons and abilities. Combat in Ruiner appears to be fast and frenetic, but also especially difficult. Some early streams I watched of the game, highlighted the game’s difficult and unforgiving nature (which I like). Death appears to be par for the course as you learn to better handle each new combat interaction.
Besides the intriguing story and gameplay, The game features an interesting art style as well as a bumping soundtrack. Just the look of the mask and the thumping techno music in the trailer above, has me ready to pull the trigger on purchasing Ruiner.
