Where to Find the Cyclops in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

On the surface, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey seems to play things relatively realistic. There isn’t much mentioned about strange creatures, or mythical beast. Once you reach Atlantis, however, things change drastically, tasking you with tracking down a number of mythical beasts. One beast you need to track down is a Cyclops. Below I will show you where to find the Cyclops in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.

Note: You need to defeat the Cyclops as part of The Gates of Atlantis quest. Completing this quest line unlocks some interesting additional lore.

Complete the Quest “A God Among Men”

Before you can go and face off against the Cyclops, you need to complete a few side quests. The first side quest you need to complete is located on Kythera Island. Called A God Among Men, the mission can be started by speaking with the Civilian who is arguing in front of a statue with a Priestess. The civilian wants you to rescue his god, Empedokles, who has been imprisoned in the Murex Fort.

Objective 1: Find and Free Empedokles

To free Empedokles, make your way to Murex Fort which is located just north of the statue. Approach the fort as you like, but be sure to grab Empedokles when you are ready to leave (located in a cell on an upper platform in the middle of the camp).

Objective 2: Escort Empedokles to Safety

When you open the cell, Empedokles will take off running. You will need to sort of “protect” him as he makes his way out of the fort. Once Empedokles makes it out of the fort, he will run a bit south and then stop. Speak with Empedokles when he stops to move the quest along. Empedokles will tell you to meet him at his statue (the one with the people arguing by it). Head there to find that the man who sent you on the quest has been killed. Empledokles then puts on a show about him being a god. Agree or disagree with him then agree to help him on his next task. This Completes the first mission needed to reach the Cyclops.

Complete the Quest “Left to Dye”

Empedokles will ask you to acquire a key for him. This key is being held by a thief. The thief can be found along the road between the Murex Dye Facility and Kythera. Once you’ve highlighted the thief, approach him and kill him. Once you’ve killed the thief, loot the body to get the key. Take the key back to Empedokles to receive the next portion of the quest, Empedokles introduces you to his family! But seriously Empedokles tells you to meet him on the Isle of Thisvi.

Complete the Quest “Stairway to Olympos”

Where to Find the Cyclops in Assassin's Creed Odyssey

You will find the Cyclops on the Isle of Thisvi.

Now that we have the key, make your way to the Forgotten Isle (located just south of Phokis). On the isle you can reach Empedokles by climbing up the center of the island and jumping in the hole found there. Swim through the opening underground and you will see Empedokles. Speak with Empedokles then open the gate to Olympos by placing the key in the slot to the left of the door. When the door opens you will come face to face with the Cyclops!

Fighting Cyclops

When you enter the area, the Cyclops, Brontes – The Thunderer will charge at you immediately. What follows is basically a boss fight. To defeat the Cyclops easily, I highly recommend bringing good bow along. Focus damaging the eye and you shouldn’t have a problem. After you lower Brontes health to 50%, he will pick up a stone to use as a club. After you complete the second phase, Brontes will die. Loot his body to acquire the First Civilization Artifact. You will also gain the following:

  • Drachmae.
  • XP.
  • Polyphemos Cyclops Bludgeon (Legendary Heavy Blade).
  • Prize of the Cyclops (Quest Item).
  • Eye on the Prize Achievement/Trophy.

And that’s all there is to it. Once you’ve killed the Cyclops, you will have defeated one of the four mythical beasts needed for completing The Gates of Atlantis questline. Need help with the others? We’ve got you covered, check out how to solve the Sphinx’s riddles here.
